Welcome to the
Montrose Mercantile Golf Club web site, the home of one of the best golf clubs
in North East Scotland. Our course is a classic Scottish links layout, with a
formidable history stretching back to 1562, which makes it the fifth oldest
course in the world. We are proud of our heritage, and the fact that our course
has achieved a world-wide reputation as a challenging but enjoyable test of all
golfing abilities.
No matter what your level of playing ability - novice, intermediate, scratch
player, veteran or even professional - we are sure that our course has something
that can both challenge and delight you. Situated on the outskirts of the
picturesque town of
Montrose,
we enjoy easy access and a friendly welcome awaits you whenever you visit.
|
Both of our
courses are open all year round and in all weathers, when many inland
courses are closed. Make no mistake, the Montrose Medal is a course of
great natural beauty and supreme quality.

If you haven't played here before, then a golfing delight awaits you. Over the years the course has improved, without losing any of its traditional, natural characteristics. Montrose has been host to a number of prestigious events, including the Scottish Professional Championship in 1967 and 1970, the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1975 and the British Boys' Championship and Internationals in 1991.
More recently, the Links was honoured by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club when it was selected as a Final Qualifying Course for the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999. Montrose will again stage Final Qualifying when the Open returns to Carnoustie in 2007. We hope that you enjoy our site, and look forward to seeing you here in person in the near future.
